How PoE is calculated
Each device draws its own power: a standard IP camera a few watts, a camera with strong IR more, a PTZ camera tens of watts. The total plus a 25% reserve is the PoE budget the switch must provide. The exact power of a model is listed in its specifications.
PoE standards
802.3af (PoE) — up to 15.4 W per port, 802.3at (PoE+) — up to 30 W, 802.3bt (PoE++/Hi-PoE) — up to 60–90 W. By the standard, cable length from the switch to a device is up to 100 m.
